paraflynn farms

July 8, 2011

jeff and i had a dispute last year about what our combined name should be flynnadis or paraflynn…neither sound good. one sounds like an std and the other like a paralysis diagnosis. paraflynn won out and we had bumper stickers printing out with the saying for our wedding. the purpose of the bumper stickers was for people to decorate the ball jars they were using as glasses and thus designate which glass was their own. some people took their jars home as a party gift, others left them. now i have 150 canning jars ready for the filling. brilliant plan if i do say so myself.

anyway…paraflynn farms is what we are jokingly referring to our “farm.” somehow our garden keeps getting bigger each year and if we keep it up, we will have enough for a c.s.a. after our trip to italy we were inspired to grow more of our own food and to make sure we use it. that at least is the goal. and so i thought i would post some pics of how the garden looked a few days ago. of course it has started to go off and i now need to thin and weed, but i figured i would post more pics of the garden when it is in full flourish.

What kind of jelly would be in the jar sealed with paraflynn?

Great looking garden. I hope the produce matches it.

we already have some orange, ginger, rhubarb marmalade and some pickled garlic sealed in paraflynn jars. need to make some more marmalade today with the rest of the rhubarb.

the garden is even more gorgeous today. will post more pictures later. aside from herbs, i have not had any produce, but today we will have some arugula pizza and green leaf lettuce salad for lunch. should be good.

Hilarious and Awesome. Tom and I would have become the “Santanas” or the “Smufords”. Neither is really appealing, but it’s the “Smufords” that has stuck with us. Wish we’d had the presence of mind to make canning jars labeled as such. 😉
Your garden looks amazing. Go, Mel, go!
